CAPTAIN STEVE’S ADVENTURES
Join Captain Steve, Samantha, and Brody as they explore the animals of Bayfront Park. Learn some fun facts about the ecosystems, animals, and human connections through beautiful illustrations and witty banter. The trio encounters a situation with the resident alligator and some young fishermen. Captain Steve guides the fishermen in how to help Hooks and teaches a valuable lesson.
JEN DAY
Since Jen was knee high to a grasshopper, she has been interacting with nature and wildlife. Growing up in the swamps of Florida where the nearest civilization was 30 minutes away and the nearest hospital was 45 minutes away, these critters were her friends and she needed to know how to interact with them safely. Her parents were key players in her education about learning to respect (and love) them. Rescuing baby birds & sick animals, riding horses before walking, raising abandoned fawns and raccoons (with permission from the proper authorities), and learning about the wildlife around her was like breathing to her in her yournger years. It is no wonder she is compelled to writing books about these amazing creatures after she relocated to Daphne AL shortly after losing her dad a couple years ago. These books are a way for her to work through the grief and carry on her dad's legacy as well as follow her passion for this area. Following in his footsteps (in a way), she has picked up the torch to advocate and educate of the ways of these critters. He was also a photographer, which is where Jen gets her love of capturing things on 'film' and where the illustrations were born. This journey is melding many passions together. Her love for her dad & honoring his life, love of nature & animals, and love of photography are all highligted in these books. Bringing to life this series to be enjoyed by young and old is breathing life into a dream she never knew she had. Bayfront Park is something different for everyone. To me, it is a place to be close to God and to continue to walk with my dad.
