ABOUT THE BOOK
Cradle to Grave by Angela McClintock is a psychological thriller that blends a haunting coming-of-age story with a chilling exploration of trauma, obsession, and revenge. Set against the backdrop of New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward, the novel follows Katy and Jo-Jo, childhood best friends bound together by innocence and loyalty—until tragedy and circumstance rip them apart. When Katy’s family stays through Hurricane Katrina, and Jo-Jo flees with her troubled mother, the storm becomes the fracture that separates their lives for decades. Jo-Jo’s world collapses further into poverty, abuse, and the traumatic murder of her mother, driving her down a path of violence. Survival hardens into obsession, and her longing for the past festers into darkness. Twenty years later, she returns to New Orleans, intent on finding the only anchor she’s ever known—only to discover that Katy was lost in the Katrina aftermath. As she absorbs yet another loss, rage replaces grief. Homicide detective Paget Ellington investigates a string of brutal murders and becomes the target of an obsessed killer. What follows is a deadly game of cat and mouse that climaxes on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, where love, betrayal, and survival collide in a final confrontation between the girl who escaped and the girl who could not. Cradle to Grave is a taut, emotionally charged thriller that explores the enduring scars of trauma, the fragility of memory, and the dangerous line between friendship and obsession.
