THE WESTCOTT STORY: The Enduring Spirit of an American Family Spanning 400 Years
This sweeping story chronicles the history and genealogy of the Westcott family in America from 1630 to 2024. Tracing her maternal lineage across 14 generations, Emmanuel weaves European and American history into the storyline while following the migratory path of the Westcotts and kin from England, France, and Germany to six of the original Thirteen Colonies, to the Territory of Florida, Minnesota, California, and beyond. James Diament Westcott III of Florida State University fame is featured among countless notable relatives who made their mark among monarchs, theologians, Native American chiefs, Founding Fathers, U.S. presidents, statesmen, and military leaders. Even as some became entangled in witchcraft, piracy, duels, espionage, defamation, and perjury, the family gained prominence by virtue of their extraordinary achievements. In two volumes, The Westcott Story exposes the frailties and tenacity of a highly-resourceful people and the realities of American life and human nature. From immigration to colonization, from armed conflict to industrialization and artistic expression, the enthralling stories embody the spirit and value of cultural icons in every phase of America’s history.
