Need a Hug?

There are times when everyone’s spirit needs to be bolstered by a physical hug! This poem of love and comfort was written when I was alone recovering from Covid. I wrote it to be read at my funeral, primarily for family and friends. My intent was to reassure them that there would always be a hug to metaphorically embrace them. Once written, close friends encouraged me to paint visual images to substantiate the poem. I never considered myself an artist of quality, but I had a purpose. I took the risk of being criticized by the “artistic community” and self-published my book of hugs. It is meant to reassure those who feel alone. It is my hope that their confidence will be restored in places and ways they never expected.

Ceil Ramsey

Ceil is an author and artist who resides in Marietta, GA. She draws upon her experiences as a nurse and lay minister to inspire her writing. She is also an avid gardener and frequently paints nature scenes including birds, flowers, and other landscapes.
