Rosie was a heroine of Alleghany and Appalachian Mountain lore: a mid-wife, sharpshooter, medicine woman and gold miner. This woman was real, the author tells of his grandmother’s exploits throughout the United States and Canada from 1886 to 1978. We follow her most interesting life from the east coast of Virginia to the west coast California and up into the Yukon Territory during the gold rush.
