"The Butterfly Tree was inspired by a trip to her aunt's house where she saw a bush covered with butterflies. The bush was so lush and beautiful that she sat down and wrote the story in about 15 minutes when she got home. That was almost 20 years ago. However, the theme of friendship that is featured in the story is a timeless lesson that she hopes will be conveyed to her young readers."
