Alabama (Friday, March 15, 2019) --- Beloved Mother is a braided narrative of three women striving for meaning in their lives amidst turmoil in their relationships and living conditions. Two religions contrast with each other---the Cherokee spirits of the native people and the Old Testament God of the white settlers---as each woman struggles to find her place. Love and hate, marriage and adultery, and childbirth and abortion are elements not only drawn on from Laura Hunter’s life and family history, but those that we all are familiar with. Alabama’s Poet Laureate, Jennifer Horne, says, “With lyric description, conflict that tears the heart, and a girl named Lily who must claim her history in order to see her way forwards, this novel gives us characters that ring true and a story both fresh and timeless.”

Laura Hunter was raised in Alabama hill and now lives near Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was published sixteen award-winning fiction pieces and nine poems, in addition to numerous articles published through different media outlets.

Hunter will debut her novel, Beloved Mother (ISBN 978-1-934610-98-5), with a VIP launch in Tuscaloosa, AL on Sunday, March 31, 2019; 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Forest Lake United Methodist Church. You are invited to celebrate the release of Beloved Mother with Hunter at this event.
