First Friday Author Round Up- Robert Day

Come meet author Robert Day & hear about his new book, The Strong Current. 6-8pm July 1st at Page & Palette.

Historical novel shines light on ancient customs
of the Upper Creek Indians of Alabama
“Robert Day has given us something rare—a sharply imagined evocation
of a long-lost American world.” — Bill Butler, owner, Butler Books
The Strong Current, Robert Day’s debut novel, follows Emathla, a rising youth living in
the fictional Creek Indian village of Autauga, located in modern day central Alabama.
Trained by the tribe’s master storyteller for their transitional ceremony, Emathla and his
fellow initiates face their final days alone, fasting in preparation for the most important
day of their lives; a ceremony that marks their initiation into manhood. Relating
fictional events through a sharp historical lens, author Day paints a daring portrait of a
young Creek Indian’s ultimate transition from child to leader of his nation’s warriors.

Robert Day is a native of Montgomery, AL. He is a graduate of the University of the
South, in Sewanee, TN, and has worked in journalism, advertising and marketing. He is
married and lives in Montrose, AL. This is his first novel.
