CHILI FOR CHARITY COOK-OFF
February 20, 2010 - 11:00 AM
CHILI FOR CHARITY COOK-OFF CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF FUN AND FELLOWSHIP Saturday, February 20 will mark the tenth anniversary of Ecumenical Ministries’ popular chili cook-off. The annual event raises money for Meals on Wheels, Home Repair, Emergency Aid, EMI’s Food Pantries and a host of other programs administered by the social service agency. It’s an all-out, cooperative community effort to help neighbors in need. The festivities take place from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hollow Farm, Greeno Road. The upcoming fundraiser is looking for sponsors and teams to participate in the outdoor festivities. Cook-off team members vie for first, second and third prizes for the best chili. A panel of local judges blind-test the chili and the lucky winners receive coveted prizes made by well-known local potter, Tom Jones. Other prizes are given for the best booth and apron decorations and People’s Choice. The competition is friendly and the chili is tasty. Last year 39 teams signed up for the event. Sponsors at a variety of levels are recognized on banners, talk shows, newsletters and news articles. Since several thousand people attend the event each year, it’s a great way to showcase a business. This year’s event will include the dancin’ music of Blind Dog Mike, mechanical bull rides, children’s games, antique car and tractor displays, hay rides, a bake sale with homemade cakes and cookies, all the chili you can eat and much more! Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children (3-12 years of age.) A limited number of Tom Jones commemorative pottery chili bowls are available for $30. Call 928-3430 for details regarding sponsorship and team participation. Please join us for our biggest year ever…our 10th celebration!
